(Vintage Dress/Bag/Necklace/Watch, Asos Boots, Chan Luu Bracelet)
As a vintage seller I come across hundreds of dresses in every shape, colour and print. I think one of the strongest traits you have to have is the ability to become immune to everything you source for your store and the willingness to pass your finds onto another without hesitation or regret. Mostly you'll have good days but once in a blue moon you'll have your moment of weakness, wanting to keep nearly everything and convincing yourself that no one will appreciate it just as much as you do. But these days pass quickly and I always feel a hundred times better letting them go. It's very rare that I'll actually keep anything for myself but if a vintage piece just so happens to find it's way into my personal wardrobe it's because there's really something about it that I know I won't be able to find again. This dress is one of those things. The mid calf length, long sheer sleeves, the interesting black and cream tulip print and full circle skirt, it's basic and simple and perfect for those days when all you want to wear is a sun dress to feel pretty and feminine. Unfortunately the photos we took of me getting a little too excited over Yum Cha and eating as many pork buns as I could in one sitting was anything but pretty and feminine. At least the dress looked nice, right?
you look great :)
ReplyDeleteYou're so beautiful and so is this outfit. x

Hello Anon,
ReplyDeleteHaha thank you for pointing that out. I never actually put together that it could be taken as me and I was actually speaking about the kind of customer that shops at my store, not myself. I have changed the spiel to 'The Gary Pepper Customer" not "Girl" now.
x
You've done it again! Dead set fabulous every single time : )

Love your vintage dress =) Little Petite Blog
ReplyDeleteNicole you look gorgeous as always. You make vintage-wearing look so effortless! By the way, Anonymous needs to go back and reread what you wrote because obviously she/he was silly enough to mistaken your words for something else. I seriously like The Gary Pepper Girl much more. Who'd be silly enough to have thought that it was a description about just you? We are all Gary Pepper Girls whether we are readers of your blog or customers of your store.
ReplyDeleteYou look so stunning in your sundress, but ya always do!

I know exactly what you mean - I share the same emotions with clothes I sell. It makes me happy knowing they are each going to a loving home. But sometimes, just sometimes, I cannot part with a pretty dress. And yours is just beautiful so I can see why xo

i just wanted to tell you that anon is just jealous of you and your success. who wouldn't be? you are something every young girl aspires to be.
ReplyDeletei'm a regular customer of your store and i follow your blog. it really upsets me that someone could send such a hurtful message to someone they have never met.
they must have a really sad life, everybody is a hero hiding behind a keyboard. i wonder what they have achieved with their life lately? besides sending anon hate. but please dont change your description because of one sad persons view. every time i see your description i'll think of the mean anon. you should dismiss people like that, not even publish their message. i wouldn't of wasted my time on such a pathetic person but thats why you're incredible.
haters are going to hate but you will always have your true fans xo
still lovin' the boots!
ReplyDeletevery pretty, I wish more girls would dress like ladies!
ReplyDeleteJust Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBye.
A kiss from italy!!!

I love this outfit and could totally tell it was vintage before reading so. I agree it's hard to pass on those amazing vintage finds. My bf and I were thrilled yet slightly destroyed to give away a vintage frame containing a personal photograph as a wedding gift. But in the end it always feels good to share your discoveries!

I love what Talia said, its so true. The Gary Pepper girl does not have to be a customer, but your vision. Anyway, I love the transparency of that dress, its amazing. You look so stunning. Also, I'm loving that watch, its perfect!
